Ninja Karakuri Seminar for International Students

Just before Golden Week, we held a “Ninja Karakuri Seminar” for international students at the Global Village facility in Yurakucho.

Participants were divided into three legendary ninja clans—Iga, Koka, and Fuma—and competed for points as teams throughout the session. Here’s a glimpse of the event

Upon arrival, participants were given colorful, ninja-themed outfits, including haori jackets, sashes, and headbands, in the order of check-in. The 90-minute seminar was packed with activities, including a fun ninja quiz, a brief lecture, two calligraphy-based experiences using traditional brushes, and a movement-based activity. Everyone showed deep interest and enthusiasm throughout the program.

We were especially impressed by how seriously and thoughtfully the students tackled the quiz and calligraphy parts—it went far beyond our expectations.

After the seminar, we enjoyed a social gathering featuring ninja-inspired food and refreshments, providing everyone with an opportunity to connect and unwind.

According to the post-event survey, we received a 100% satisfaction rate, with the shuriken (throwing star) experience being the most popular segment! The organizers from the facility also commented, “People who had never joined our events before came, and the atmosphere was fantastic.”

We truly felt the impact of this event and hope that through the world of ninja, international students will be inspired to explore and appreciate Japanese culture even more deeply.
